Hello Dear Collective. » intimate. bold. eclectic.

can i get a WOOF WOOF.

I know, I know… we have been terrible trying to keep up with this blog. There are a few faces and some beautiful stories missing from these pages and I promise that we are making an effort to get them up here, but for now, I give you a few personal photographs featuring my favorite paw-baby(s).

Everyone meet Shyla [black lab] and Gator [the one in the Gator jersey]. These two have many things in common:

1. They both love to snuggle up beside you on the couch
2. They both have an obsession with toys, and they don’t like to share
3. They both have birthdays in October

This last fact is something I just discovered a week ago. I have ALWAYS wanted to throw a doggy-birthday party for my Shyla ever since we adopted her…that was 5 years ago. So this year, after finding out that there was another fur buddy with the same month of birth, I decided I was going to do it. My sister, who is the Mommy of Gator, was 100% supportive of this idea. And their fathers? Well they go along with anything we ladies suggest.

Now, I don’t know about you all’s pets, but mine does not allow me to dress her up for very long. She will go along with it til she gets her treats and then it is a game of how quickly can she get the clothing off. But Gator, he is all about this jeresey. He wore those blue and orange colors with pride! My sister pinned a cute note about the importance of her baby to the back of his shirt for the occassion.

Here is Shyla. She is so beautiful and yet every time I take her picture she gives me a sad “Eeyore” face. This is actually one of her better portraits. There are her proud parents to the right, so sad to see another year has passed and so thankful that we have this pup in our lives.

Now let the party commence! It was nothing too exciting for us humans, but all the dogs knew that tonight was going to be full of treats. I found a peanut butter and carrot cake recipe and made favors filled with Scooby-Snacks. Of course there was singing and candles and birthday hats for all. It was definitely a fun evening and very simple to do. I would recommend this for everyone who loves their pups to try one year…if not every! [And one last note…case in point on the “Eeyore face” with Shyla and her birthday candle.] Hope you all enjoy and Happy Fall!
