On the terrace of the Orlando Science Center, overlooking the views of tree tops and downtown Orlando, friends and family sat in neat little rows of white chairs awaiting the entrance of the bride. Her groom and his mother, who would be officiating the ceremony, nervously waited while everyone flip-flopped in their seats, wondering what the next few minutes would bring. The music was cued, and the beautiful bride made her way down the small aisle to her husband-to-be. She was breathtaking. And the whole audience felt her glow.
Almost immediately she reached for his hand, like it was pure instinct. The ceremony started with a brief description of what these two are all about. Zombies. A short description of what their love’s trials and tribulations, strengths and weaknesses were all intertwined in this fantastic tale. After which, the traditional vows were exchanged.
And the moment everyone had been waiting for! The first kiss as husband and wife! With the sun making its way across the western sky, it was truly magic that we witnessed atop the terrace on the roof. As they made their way back down the aisle, friends and family wiped tears from their eyes and gathered their belongings to make their way to the reception.
The cupcakes that the bride herself had made would be the party favors for her guest at the end of the evening. In lieu of tradition, the newly married couple had requested no gifts but for means to assist them in a honeymoon or the purchase of a home. On the gift table was a tiny coffin, where the cards were placed, made by none other than the bride. Such a creative one she is!
The cake was covered in fruits and chocolate, tempting all the children who were led to the table to “take a look.” Each of their eyes lit up and their fingers reached for the frosting, stopping short just as their parents hands restricted them at the last second. The colors were red and black and the table had the couple’s champagne flutes covered in roses.
Time to cut the cake! As man and wife, the cutting of the cake symbolizes the first task that they perform as a unit. I would expect nothing less of these two but to thoroughly enjoy this moment. They turned the cake cutting experience into a fun and playful part of the evening, both giggling and flirting with the cake pieces in their hands.
I had such a great time at the wedding, I could hardly pick just a few of my favorites. I would like to thank Mike and Marie for inviting me to be a part of this most important day in their lives. We made many memories with you all on this night and can’t wait to hear the stories in the days ahead. Congratulations!
