Hello Dear Collective. » intimate. bold. eclectic.

at a point in time we all get our wings.

And finally, after hours of sweat, blood and tears, the moment arrives to stand before family, friends, God, and country, to take an oath to protect all that your flag stands for. Marching in formation, as the announcer calls each flight, your heart races with a mixture of anticipation and joy. Cheers radiate from the audience, who surround the 705 trainees as they wait for the moment when their title transitions to Airman.

A simple handshake, and the placement of the Air Force coin into the trainee’s palm, signifies the time when Basic Training is over, and a soldier has emerged.

The Airmen must salute, and the audience must place their hands over their hearts, as the flag is lowered and retired, signifying the end of the work day. At that time, family and friends are allowed to go to their men, who must remain at attention until they are touched by you. Embraces are short, but ever so sweet, and the new Airmen are released for the rest of the day to catch up with the adventures they have missed and the ones they have lived.
